At Momentum, a repository already held useful skills: business logic and prompts for everyday operations work. They could only be used from inside that repository, with Claude Code. Many employees are not technical: they use claude.ai and never Claude Code, so those skills were out of their reach. The answer was to bring the skills to claude.ai through an MCP server.
What I built
Working alone, I built a Python server with FastMCP that exposes the existing skills as MCP tools, resources and prompts, and I deployed it. Every Momentum employee who uses Claude can now connect to it and call those skills from a chat. The skills themselves were already written; my part was turning them into a server and making it available. The code is internal, so there is nothing to link.
What I took from it
It was my first MCP server, and it was easier than I expected. Once the skills and prompts are ready, serving them through MCP takes little extra work; the value was already in the skills, and the server opens them to everyone.
